I thought the Yahoo Research team was canned.
It has been unscathed so far despite the layoffs at Yahoo. The attitude seems to be to double-down on basic research while cutting elsewhere. And it does seem to be a highly regarded research lab (if I do say so myself, being part of it) as evidenced by some of the famous academics it continues to attract.
