I feel like these kind of stories come out a little too often though. What ever happened to IBM's super memory prototype?

I hate to be skeptical, but I will believe it when I see it.

It's a bit silly comparing it to a last generation disk format just to get a bigger multiple to write about. 600mb -> 4.7gb -> 50gb -> 500gb means that if this ever reaches the market it's just continuing the pattern. Barely newsworthy, and definitely not exciting.

I can fit twice that many on a HD for $150.

Unless these are guaranteed long-term storage then what advantage is there to using them?
