Show HN: I made a job board for startups in NYC
startupnyc.org
startupnyc.org
Jobs are sourced from AngelList, the resumator, jobscore, indeed, simply hired, stack overflow and github and are grouped by job/internship and technical/nontechnical using primarily keyword filtering. I've pulled in metadata(year founded, # employees, funding) about the companies from AngelList, Crunchbase and Linkedin to try and make it easier to filter by companies you might be interested in.
Anyway, I'd love any feedback people have and would be happy to answer any questions
EDIT: error should be fixed, sorry about that.
- the jobs for 10gen are stale, like maybe 6+ months old.
- you might want to add something to catch people searching on subtle spelling differences (eg: "10gen" not "10 gen").
- there's some mismatches on company names, eg for this job (http://careers.stackoverflow.com/jobs/34710/senior-software-...) it comes up as an Adafruit job not "Advisory Board Company". Many of the jobs sourced off StackOverflow seem to be mismatched to companies, maybe there's a common bug.
- you can expand a job listing by clicking on it. Maybe add a graphic bug to click on to fold the listing?
- That's a good idea, improving searching and filtering is definitely top of my list.
- Yeah, stackoverflow's got pretty limited searching ability, so I was trying to match via name appearing in job title/description, but it's got way more false positives than I'd like.
- Absolutely
If latter are you not worried about limits.
Any way it is a quite nice aggregator.
Quick feedback...You might want to use a manual check to ensure that the data you're scraping is accurate for at least the featured companies is accurate. For example:
"Foursquare (founded in 2013, 120 people, $112M funding) is hiring"
Looks like Crunchbase has a bad founding date for 4sq.
e: nvm, I made a request for a feature that already exists!
Just needs a coat of paint.
