When working in this way, how do you run the code? I imagine anything involving a backend would be tough, but would it be possible to run purely client side code when offline?

Judging from recent Chrome commits (an experimental editing mode, integrating the Ace editor into the dev tools, etc) I'd say that it will be.

Not all web apps require constant server interaction to develop. Also you could probably mock a lot of the server interaction as well.

Possibly even instant offline mocking, somewhat like meteor but without the need for a server.
