It doesn't even need the correlation part, you can deduce similar conclusions merely from studying each language without real world input.

I think you mean Sapir-Whorf. My understanding was that's not been proven to a sufficient extent to use it as any kind of hard evidence that language influences complex decisions like long-term financial planning.

Well, they didn't use Sapir-Whorf to prove that "language influences complex decisions like long-term financial planning".

They did their own research, from scratch, to see if that happens, research that would also help to prove Sapir-Whorf.
