Can you (or have you) blog about the experience? Tips and tricks? I am planning on self-publishing a book on Powershell.

He already did, 2 days ago on HN:

I'm not sure he really should have titled this Show HN as he already has shown it to us. Very recently.

It's just a bit of self-promotion. Compared to the last time[0], it seems pretty benign.

Is there something wrong with showing off work that you are proud of? If something I share here gets upvotes then apparently some people find it interesting.

Not trying to upset anyone here, I just want to share my work and share my story, that's all.

Using several aliases to promote your enterprise is deceitful and yes, there is something wrong with that.

Right, but I am not talking about the reddit stuff which was one year ago and I learnt from that mistake.

The story that I shared is kind of incomplete at the moment, I haven't finished all the parts in the series.

The reason that I posted this was that I wanted to show the end result which wasn't linked/mentioned in the story.

Not aiming to break any rules or so here, just wanted to show off the result (fast forward from the blog series)

This is true but I'm willing to give him a pass for being open to questions and writing such an exhaustive post-mortem of the process...plus, the original blog post he linked to didn't do a good job of linking to the final product (as it was written before publication, I guess).

There's a big link on the side. It's been out 6 months.

This isn't a Show HN.

I didn't think that Show HN was limited to new things only, what happens when someone joins HN after they have produced something they think worthy of sharing? The great thing about HN is that readers can vote on whether they want to see stuff, i guess this was voted up enough for that reason.

His account is a year and half old and he has posted this book a lot of times already. I don't think he's crossed the line, and I'm sure many people are going to be very interested in reading the rest of his self-publishing story. And I hope that drives more sales for him, it's win-win.

But it's not really a Show HN.

I have written a little bit (3 parts) about it that I shared here. Here's the link: http://blog.filipekberg.se/2012/08/27/self-publishing-a-book...

Self-publishing is the best thing that I've ever done, it's fun and I learnt very much about a lot of different things.

If you have any questions that I haven't answered in my blog series (more parts are coming soon), just let me know and I'll try to answer them.
