Show HN: GrogLog, a Free Drink Tracker

It’s designed for people who are alcohol dependent and want to get visibility and control over their drinking in order to cut down or stop. Fully offline, better features than many paid apps, and free/opensource as i don’t believe in profiting from misery https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/groglog-drink-tracker/id681713...

it has stuff like burndown charts and tapering features to help people manage their reduction in medically safe ways which i felt was missing from the existing options

https://groglog.io

Some cool stuff

- daily/weekly/monthly reporting and charts so you can see how you’re doing relative to previous days/weeks

- lock screen widget so you can log a drink in two taps - super easy ux so you can log just like “beer” or a specific brand/size depending on how accurate you want to be

- HealthKit integration so you can see how drinking is affecting your resting heart rate and HRV

- three different tapering modes so you can have a budget and reduce safely

- iCloud sync for if you switch phones

- it’s pretty and extremely lightweight

It’s a bit UK centric with regards to brands but there’s no reason it couldn’t be used in other places

The main inspiration was Drink Coach as it’s delightfully simple, but lacked certain things like being able to visualise your cadence or set a dynamic budget etc
