This is a great idea and I wouldn't be surprised if it has brain benefits too. This reminds me of the recommendation to take different routes to daily destinations as a form of mental workout.
Even if it's just a slightly different route through the city to get to work, it helps immensely with resisting the detrimental effects of the daily grind. I can still recall, with some degree of emotional pain, the constant and regular, monotonous walk to school in my youth - and the approach I have taken as an adult is to resist mono-paths as enthusiastically as possible.
