It's the CBC reporting on it in here, but the location was Milwaukee.

The story takes place in the US. The only Canadian connection is that CBC convered the story, and Norm was Canadian.

I’m betting the harassers are from CWCki/Kiwi farms, especially since there’s linked article below it to other events where Canadians were targeted by them.

They are an insane harassment group that goes to any length to harm what they term lolcows or have decided are bad people.

If you are familiar with the name they started out with harassing Chris Chan “for the lulz” and have gotten increasingly aggressive over the years.

The cops are definitely at some degree of fault here though. Going to the same address multiple times in a day if the article is accurate and treating everyone like a serious hostage situation is crazy.

Kiwi farms allows/encourages mockery of these people, and collection of everything they've ever said/done online (which some might consider doxxing), but notably, they do not allow planning harassment. Maybe people read KF and coordinate with others to swat lolcows, but that coordination does not happen on KF.

If you've ever wondered why KF is still around, that's a big part of it. They're also completely compliant with US law.

Yes, when a powerful man like a medieval king, who can make or break anyone around him, says something like that, people do his bidding.

I don't see how that applies to some rando on kiwi farms, or you, or me for that matter.

The idea that they don’t coordinate is asinine. They do that on their discords.

It is difficult to correlate the causation here with a singular post about Norm McDonald to unending felony-crime false reports sending a SWAT team out.

Surely there is a backstory or some other detail that actually drew attention to this poor beleaguered couple. I bet you there is a deeply ingrained feud or beef that goes on for years before they got to this point.

The other question raised at this point: basically all local law enforcement is made up of independent agencies. Is it this easy to SWAT someone 55 times in every jurisdiction? Surely there are some more agencies that would proactively rate-limit or cap the responses at some point.

I don’t know that it was actually norm McDonald, when I looked the guy up on kiwi farms I saw a litany of accusations. Normie media is not equipped to report on this and even if they were I doubt they’d put it into writing because it sounds insane to the average person because it is.

But, it could completely be down to just one comment and snowballing from there. The people on kiwi farms are legitimately insane and apparently only have free time on their hands to obsess over their grudges and crusades
