Ask HN: What games do you religiously play on your phone browser?

I play a few word games every day - Wordle, connections, crossword - but I feel I need to look at non-word games to keep the brain agile. Looking for ideas.

Golf putter: https://putt.day/archive

Mine sweep reversed: https://sunflowersgame.com

The middle: https://pzlgames.com/games/middleword/

I built https://poptimum.fun which works pretty great on a browser.

Right now it’s a daily game, but a campaign and roguelike mode is coming next week

Pretty neat. Just got a highscore yay

None. The Phone's browser is unsuitable for games and I am not masochistic.

Not everyone is stuck with Safari only.

Gerrymandle, although it's started the slow slide into ads and popups in the past month. https://gerrymandle.com/puzzles

saimiam's comment mentioned 2048, so I'll plug my variant:

It's been a bit since I've done anything other than Wordle.

Really Bad Chess was a daily driver for me. I loved the chaos, which strangely collapsed to recognizable patterns and strategies based on difficulty and board layout.

Oh, you said phone browser. Are you against native apps?

2048 is fun - you can probably find a browser version of that.

I don’t like installing apps but that’s a personal peeve. 2048 is a good one. Thank you.

Chess gives me anxiety - like I’m supposed to play to win and not just enjoy the game, unlike, say, Sudoku where getting stuck or filling the grid wrongly doesn’t seem as life or death.

Well...people who like chess who I've showed Really Bad Chess to really don't like Really Bad Chess. Maybe the flip side is true?

You may find the same anxiety as in real Chess but for me RBC is just a fun, soft brained exercise.

DiceMerge, Yatzy

Both these games need a proper "how to play" page. I couldn't figure out what I was doing in either.

For some reason, as an elder millennial, I don't use my phone in this way at all. I've tried getting into mobile games, but they are typically garbage in-app-purchase machines. The PC is for gaming and large purchases, the phone is for light browsing and apps I'm forced to install.

I used to play 247 Hearts a lot but then I built a better version for myself.

https://spottedmarley.com/hearts

The opponents are not AI powered but claude wrote some much better procedural opponent game rules and strategies so its much more challenging than 247 hearts.

A while back I was enjoying Mahjong Solitaire: https://www.crazygames.com/game/mahjongg-solitaire

Since you're already on the NYT site/app, try Pips, Tiles, and Sodoku.

I tried Pips and play Sudoku already. Tiles is pretty rudimentary as a game, as far as I can tell.

Of these, I think Pips is probably something I should try more seriously.

I play this and compete for high scores against the other like 6 people who play it

That game where you sort the vials with different colored water in them. I'm on level 1473. Part of a collection called Offline Games

I'm shamefully obsessed with https://sudoku.coach

uncrossy. About twice a week I go and do the last few days of puzzles. Ever since I first saw it released here on HN.

I play a lot of chess on lichess.org No login required and the matching system is very decent.

My favorite mobile game of all time is Arknights, although it isn't a browser game.

Not a fan of installing apps. Personal peeve.

At a high level, why do you like Arknights?

I like the art and storytelling -- the characters are somewhere between unbearably cute and tough special forces lifestyle. It fits my kemo lifestyle [1]

I like the tower defense genre in general, there is a lot of depth to the mechanics, and many of the levels are challenging. It is a gacha game but it's fun to play if you don't spend any money or if you just get the $5 monthly card which I think is fair for the entertainment I get compared to other games. Unlike other gacha games (say Azur Lane) it doesn't try to take over your life with notifications and the UI is refined [2] Unlike, say, Genshin Impact, download sizes are reasonable.

[2] ... not like FGO or those games where you collect clothes other than Love Nikki

Wordle occasionally

Connections daily

Lichess most days

Lichess is fun to just drop on a stranger in a random chat room at times.

enclose.horse is fun

Another word game, https://www.chiddle.net

That dinosaur hopping over cactuses thing in Chrome when the network is down. I saw a vid of Vlad Putin doing it and I want to emulate the dude.

Hearthstone: It's nice for passing the time while taking a shit.
