It's all because of the bad idea of artificially limiting the regenerative breaking powered boost. Why even have that limitation, lift it and allow all the teams to a roll their own software, work on their batteries and electric motors and regenerative breaking. Make it just another field of competition like the rest of the cars engineering, sure you can have minimum and maximum specs but putting in place electronic controls to nerf performance flies in the face of the spirit of the sport.
