You're right, it did. Unfortunately, I tried that without success:

That's what I meant when I wrote, "I tried changing channels in the remote but that didn't seem to help much.", and wondered "Maybe the channels are too few or narrow to be useful?".

If the "channels" were radio frequencies, I can see why. I believe the DIP switch in my fan and controller selected a sort of identifier code. If a radioed command did not contain the right identifier, the fan ignored it.
