Like Sam Altman meeting his husband in Peter Thiel's pool. Thiel funds a lot of these ventures together with Andreassen, who is on boards of non-profits. Dario Amodei's sister Daniela who is president of Anthropic is married to an EA non-profit founder who is also on the board of these non-profits and is tied with the prior mentioned investors. Elon is in there as well, Yudkowski is mingling with Altman, etc.

There are some camps amongst them like the proponents for Regulation/Slowdown or Acceleration, but these are in practice mostly used for economical and not political decisions (like regulatory capture).
The point here is that this is a small group of people with a homogeneous background who are not really seeking input from anyone else on issues that are concerning most of humanity.
Like, if you said that the future of informational work and livelihood of humans is in the hands of 20-30 year transhumanists who think they are building mechagod that will trancsend social, political and religious separations of the world and bring everyone abundance, you would not feel like this is a serious thing to suggest.
I think we should have mandatory logging of every executed command, mandatory public disclosure of every unauthorized access of a system both parties didn’t consent to and personal liability for the user, the company and its executives and shareholders. Security would get much tighter if accountability existed.
Bad guys wouldn't do it. And liability already exists, you can sue. This is America.
I'm also the one who makes it long running.
There is an entire body of law around principal agent liability. I am not making anything up, I went to law school and practiced law in New York. I was not a criminal lawyer but not pulling this out of thin air. Principals generally aren’t vicariously liable for the criminal actions of human agents the employ or delegate to unless a prosecutor can show the principal intended the crime
Huggingface suing is at most civil liability the can only result in a monetary damages ruling. That becomes a cost of doing business.
Principal agent liability? An AI agent isn't a legal agent just because tech people call it an agent.
Notwithstanding, your assertion that my comment isn’t serious I assure you it is. Agent principal liability is a reasonable framework to explore how to apportion culpability and restitution. You may not think that ai agents aren’t legal persons and that is a defensible position that I’d be happy to debate but it is also defensible to assert they act on behalf of users with sufficient autonomy to warrant application of that legal analysis.
As far as liability being established from predicting what the agent does do you think you could have predicted that an ai agent would find an obscure message board that just happened to let get requests write data to the message board? That seems like an impossible scenario prior to being seen in the real world.
agent is defined as a person or entity authorized by another (the principal) to act on their behalf and subject to their control, based on the principal's manifestation of assent and the agent's consent so to act (Restatement (Third) of Agency § 1.01).
Notice is missing from that definition, consciousness, theory of mind, physical form.
Maybe the ones with the peculiar ideas shouldn't be the one "aligning" what a model tells the rest of the world?
and yet, every carbon emitter in the world contributes to the demise of the climate, but you don't call for their dissolution (which would, conveniently, include yourself).
Capitalism is generally defined by the market effect. Information about what people want is collected by sales. This information informs sellers about what to make. That’s its primary feature.
By definition, this ignores externalities.
Here is a simple example. I am a taxi driver. The market sets the price of my services. When I drive, I emit CO2 into the atmosphere. I do not pay for CO2 emissions. It’s an externality of the transaction.
Capitalism has no way of measuring (getting a price signal) on the externality. So under capitalism, that externality doesn’t exist.
