One of our client reps was at a meeting where a video was shown and he described a raid in Hong Kong:
- it starts in a back alley filled with trash
- then moves through a doorway of an incredibly dirty apartment
- there is a closet with dirty clothes piled in it
- the clothes are moved away and then is a small door in the back of the closet
- the door opens into a tunnel that you have to crawl through
- there is another door
- when you go through that door you enter a state of the art clean room with an industrial DVD burning machine turning out hundreds of DVDs a day.
One of the most notable things about this is that there were parts of the machine that were larger than any entrance to the room. The MPAA folks were genuinely curious as to how the machine even got into that room.
I love to tell this story as it shows the level of ingenuity pirates will go through to produce knock off products.
