It seems like an interesting project - I hope that your real interest is the embedded systems design and software, because if your true goal is an efficient path to a new fast drone platform, your README seems to kind of short circuit the trade study for DIYing an RTOS. But, it's going to be a great embedded systems project and you'll learn a lot that's for sure!
100%. i did this project for the educational benefits cause im trying to see what fields of cs are most interesting for me. this is mostly for college aps since my grades lowk suck in school
In that case, awesome! I would recommend that as you go, stand up one or two boards with existing RTOS solutions, and come up with methods to measure metrics both for your solution and theirs. Would be a great way to learn and generate good information for a paper at the end.
Whats wrong w/ current OS flight controllers ?
Nothing much, its just an educational project mostly for college aps. My friend is designing the pcbs and im doing the software. Also betaflight has a limit for speed im pretty sure and the drone will just drop out of the sky.
Exactly fork Betaflight and adjust the heartbeat frequency which triggers the main loop.
but it doesn't have the same educational value. i don't care that a lot of software like this already exists, i'd rather create me own and know how it works, than just blindly use someone else's code. its more about learning embedded electronics more than it is about the actual drone.
