I wouldn’t say people are perfectly aware. It seems obvious I should be able to at least back up my save files but that was disabled on the PS5 and instead you need to purchase a separate subscription. A lot of basic features that were available in the past are going away.

The only reason is greed from Sony.

Neither of those things make it any less ridiculous. What it really amounts to is that you're not really purchasing the hardware.
