Saw this quote yesterday:

That seems like a divide and conquer attack. The actual problem is that the electorate system leads to a two-party equilibrium.

Which can then be used to divide and conquer by simply capturing both of those parties, as documented in Gilens and Page Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens [1].
