I don't see this as inevitable at all. Voice as an interface has so, so many downsides. Privacy, inefficiency, making noise, fatigue, requirements to the environment, not to mention that at least I personally have many times of the day during which I really, really don't want to speak. In almost every circumstance, given all possible choices for input methods, voice would be dead last for me.
