Studying and writing about my conclusions, or just writing in general, is one way that I am still able to enter flow state outside of programming.

Sketching and drawing are also great for flow.

They didn't say it pays the bills. My guess is playing music, its the only other thing for me.

To name a few I have experienced: playing an instrument, sparring, meditation.

Paying the bills? I could have mentioned proving a theorem related to an algorithm at work ... but LLMs are also helping there now. The best I can come up with is: reading a book related to my current projects.
