Hire more?

For how much money? Subscribing people is 200 dollars a day. Codexr is 20 dollars a month

If they are going to be put out of work by AI then they will be cheap to hire.

If you were unemployeed, what's the minimum rate per day that you'd be willing to work for?

That would depend on which country I was in. Where I live it would probably be at least 20 USD per hour. But I live in a country (Norway) where unemployment benefits and protections against becoming unemployed in the first place are strong.

Yeah, hard to compete with 20 dollars a month, was my point.

That sentence is incredibly dystopian.

That was my point. The idea of replacing teachers with AI is itself dystopian and and I'm quite sure rife with unintended consequences.

"idea" is dystopian. Look at the world around you. Like the OP news article.

The better alternative is to reshuffle what teaching means.

Right now teacher largely execute a curriculum this is predefined and do behavior management in US public schools at least. There is not a whole lot of creativity and a lot of rigid administration.

Given that teacher salaries are one of the biggest expenditures it makes sense to try to gain efficiencies while trying to improve results.

Under the current scheme, the results are headed downhill. More of the same won't solve any problems.
