This is a pretty easy payment for DoorDash to make to stay in the city's good graces.
It doesn't change the fact that these services are inherently an unsustainable business model and exploitative by nature.
"The Mamdani administration also said it is developing software that would allow workers to directly submit complaints to the city and will require companies to self-report their data so that the city’s worker protection agency can find real-time discrepancies in pay."
This effort, and this software rolled out to other cities, should help kill exploitative business practices in this context. We can leverage automation and regulation together to defend against economic exploitation.
“You can just do things.”
Or evidence of uppity liberals overstepping their bounds when it comes to free market association of workers and employers?
