I listened to the Odyssey recitation on the channel you shared (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZByDOoDjIM) and to me it doesn't sound much like Sanskrit, but maybe that's just because I'm too familiar with Sanskrit and cannot take an outside view. (I can see how it's similar to other Sanskrit chanting videos on the same channel though.) Anyway as you said, it would make sense for the oldest Indo-European chanting traditions to have some similarities.
