By this logic every person born in North America is a Native American.

Of course, this criticism is very popular amongst Scots who live in Scotland which is still overwhelmingly Scottish even in the major cities.

“Native American” is not used in the way that you are using it

There is a difference between saying that people are ethnically native, and that they only properly belong if they are ethnically native. What DHH is doing is the equivalent of saying that white (or black or Asian, or whatever) people are not real Americans (and should be deported to Europe, Africa or Asia).
