Making a movie in pure SVG using SMIL

I wish the likes of Inkscape had a SMIL feature (or if I had a magic want I'd revive KDE's Karbon to be able to do this). Doing SMIL animations "by hand" is rather tricky and as far as I know there's no comprehensive tool to do this - i.e. something that fully covers both SVG and SMIL.

In 2004, when they were working on 0.40, it was on the roadmap for 0.49 <https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php?title=Roadmap&oldid...>. Unfortunately it never happened, though they invite people interested in implementing it to join the development team <https://inkscape.org/learn/animation/>.

yeah... i dunno why SMIL doesn't get much love. The only reason why I learned about this I was looking at features chrome deprecated over the years and came across this thread https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/blink-dev/c/5o0yi...... they wanted to kill it.

Evokes a Wes Anderson remake of "I just want to serve 5 terabytes." (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3t6L-FlfeaI)

this is the most underrated youtube video i reckon... much better than "mogodb is web scale"
