Ask HN: Is opaque over-engineering with frontier AI the future of software?

I read this from Amazon CTO’s feed. It feels to me as the kool-aid driven hype driven version of software engineering. Is it the new normal? Are people at FAANG just accepting blindly opaque overengineered software as a thing now?
