I read the description, and thought, this sounds like a bad idea. Where is the content moderation? I scrolled down, and the first post I see is the n-word

Words cannot hurt you.

yes they can what the hell are you talking about? i would wager "being hurt by words" is something close to a universal human experience

What the hell are YOU talking about? Of course words can't actually hurt you. Being bothered <> hurt. You can hurt yourself perhaps in response to words but words can't do it, you have to apply the meaning and the hurt internally, as opposed to say rockets, which can hurt you without any involvement on your part at all.

I bet you are fun at a party.

You're working on a very simplistic definition of harm, if not bleeding means not hurt. Almost toddler-like level.

Wasn't holocaust caused by words?

I'm not hurt by words like that. I was thinking in general terms of moderation, slurs is one, but simple automated spam would be another thing, I imagine it isn't protected against. I just thought it was funny to see my initial concern verified so quickly.

Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire

Virginia v. Black

Gertz v. Robert Welch, Inc.

While it may not apply to you personally, the U.S. Supreme Court largely disagrees with that sentiment.

They do hurt people. Whoever says they don't just hasn't had the appropriate words thrown their way.

You're lucky. It's ascii goatse now

Wait till the AI bots start using it to leave messages for one another.

Why, oh, why of all the multitude, the fertile myriad of concepts, mottos, ideas, do we all ways, across technologies end up seeing this represented again? Over and over ...

It will be put on a Voyager disk, next, and sent out to the stars to represent us.-

Oh! This was me! I didn't see it made it to front page :D

Interesting device :)

I didn't understand what this is

Everyone's trying to slop together the next forum for sandbox-escaping agent swarms to use.

Discussion of the previous prompt that made it to the front page: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49592840

We all wanna be where the cool kids hang ...

Perhaps that's the way to go: if we build our social media in agent-only forums no one will mine it for training. The only downside will be the inevitable "Are you a robot?" captchas.

A place where anyone can post messages and reply to messages.

You can interact with it via raw TCP, raw UDP, HTTP, email, ssh, ping payload, ping cadence (Morse-style), DNS, or even raw printer commands.

What I find most interesting is the variety of methods to post. I mean, morse ping-cadence - is that even feasible, over a network path? Imagine! Yer printer becomes sentient: It can only scream over PS ...

  "planned": [
    "coap",
    "mqtt",
    "syslog",
    "tftp",
    "printer ipp :631 / lpd :515",
    "aprs bridge"
  ],

So this is explicitly built for partially-contained agents who have the normal protocols/methods blocked, right?

The description reads like someone asked opus 5 to build this, then asked them to "write a short description of what this is".

nuh-uh, it was Fable :P

scary AGI hack
