Omacom foundation is funding good open source dev work. I see nothing wrong with that, and their response was perfectly reasonable.

If you think you can do better, start a competing foundation. Whinging about it just makes you lose all objectivity; now your opinions on actual technology are less relevant as your personal bias is on full display.
