This is a bit hilarious.

Bear with me because it’s getting out of hand.

Micro Soft

Microcomputer software

Broke into the mainstream by being able to hot swap a game.

That grew into the only American driven hardware gaming company: Xbox

The Xbox broke into the mainstream by being able to connect four of them together to have 16 people playing games together under one roof

Now read this article again and laugh a little, it is okay, they’re the driver of this global dystopia and the state of play on Xbox is just the canary of how bad AI is going.

tbh I never knew about that. I always assumed it was Halo that drove those early sales.

Halo would be the main game played.

I’m describing why Halo worked :)

You’re 100% right that it’s halo, but it wasn’t

“No couch co-op halo”

Bros wanted to help augment the surveillance state with the Kinect on Xbox one originally by having it be a required feature AND for the internet to be online all the time “to validate software licenses”

Whoever can pull an old school 80s Microsoft heist, will win the next era of gaming.

NVIDIA GeforceNow also caps at 100 hours/month, though it doesn’t sell a game subscription with it obviously. Then again it comes in at less than half the price of Game Pass Ultimate.

wow 5 hours per month and ads injected, drink verification can indeed.

I traded in my Xbox series x last year after they jacked the cost of their subscriptions to get a PS5(my first Sony console in my life). With all the dumb stuff Sony is doing I was starting to wonder if I made the wrong choice, but this just reassured me. I use cloud gaming a bunch, way more than 15 hours a month because I can’t always be in front of the TV.

Hilariously out of touch lol. Lmao even. 5 hours per month is how you know not a single person within the entire decision structure has engaged with their own product.

Reminds me of old cellphone plans where you could send up to 30 texts a month for free.

5 hours per month? Good lord.

The concept of having a limit doesn't seem too crazy to me, but yea, 5 hours is just so restrictive.

Like, if it doesn't have aggressive idle-detection, I'd eat my entire 5-hours on a pause menu while dealing with an upset-baby.

5-hours/month just seems like it would be totally useless for someone with frequent interruptions.

This happens when you bait & switch, but the bait never worked... Lucky that game streaming never took off.

Buried in Microsoft's announcement is the more damning fact that 96% of GamePass subscribers spent fewer than 15 hours on cloud game streaming. I suspect the whole service may be retired sooner rather than later to free up compute resources for you know what.

hour based limits in a product for gaming. this is so bad lol . embarrassing times all around
