It didn't "came off that way". You literally decided to speak up about something that has nothing to do with you.

It's a discussion forum, if you don't like discussing then don't comment. No one needs your permission to comment on your posts.

I don't disagree, but no one forces you to be a jerk. Don't act surprised when you receive a pushback for that.
