Amazon's 7.65GW AI data center power plant could be largest CO₂ emitter in US

And to add insult to literal environmental injury, it's to be located in Texas, which is the country's largest producer of both solar and wind energy.

Instead, the company made a deal with a petroleum business to get their own natural gas pipeline, burn that gas, and emit more carbon than the EPA has ever allowed at any factory in US history.

All this for more AI? Really? How is that helping? Layoffs hurt people. Cutting social services like food and housing combined with unemployment leads to social unrest. A data center won't fix that.

And all of this while Amazon says they want to be "carbon neutral" by some imaginary future date. What a hell of a step backwards.
