Since a physical theremin is played by non-contact gestures and motions, perhaps your creation might be more aptly termed a "Virtual theremin."
Perhaps a "high frequency theramin"?

So actually this project should be called “Cameramin”, since it has very little do to with air guitar, other than air guitar being derived from the theremin ..
