Indian numbers look impressive just because of the size of the population and demographic dividend and 90's information technology. However, successive governments have squandered all of those benefits, and the bad infrastructure, bad governance and badly educated population is coming to bite them back.
Things do not look good for India at all. I was born and lived in India till around a decade ago, everytime I go to India, I just see more potential being wasted and things become worse (even though they appear good on paper). India's GDP in 2020 is for the first time back at the 1965 levels (in relation to the world GDP) and now climate change is going to wreak havoc and things will get worse again.
I hope to be proven wrong but I'm sorely disappointed everytime.
