Non-lethal weapons are a good thing. I hope we see more of this in the future.
I don't recall them ever taking away lethal weapons after gaining new, less-lethal ones. This is just another tool in the arsenal that demands absolute compliance. Submit now, and let the courts figure out who's right later (hint: it's not you).
Non-lethal weapons are also torture devices, in this case extremely convenient torture devices that are being handed to an agency that seems fairly eager to torture people.
... especially for doling out extrajudicial punishment without repercussion.
