It sounds like they could just block calls from Morocco and cut off much of the problem.

Not practical. There are quite a lot of French-Moroccans and extended families living in both countries and traveling regularly. There are also more than a few support centres for French companies because the local workforce speaks French and is cheap. That’s a lot of legitimate phone calls.

That's not a good faith suggestion. (It's impractical and you know it.)

The problem is that French companies contract with telemarketing firms in France. Banning incoming calls from Morocco doesn't solve the telemarketing problem in any way. It's just a xenophobic / racist / whatever excuse to inconvenience people you don't like without making any attempt to solve the telemarketing problem.

FYI there is at least 900k+ people in France either immigrant from Marocco or with an origin and a 100k+ people with french nationality or origin living in Marocco

That's not racist it's simply a practical solution to spam calls coming from Morocco.

It's completely irrelevant how many immigrants there are, they live in France now they can just dial out to Morocco and we ban inbound calls from Morocco.

Yes that's racist to divide one million families just the same of cruelty, and also quite stupid because that's not how capitalism work when there is a cheaper source of labor of a call center that speaks the right language in the right timezone, it will find its way.

But racism and stupidity are usually good friends, so that checks out.

Those people mostly use Whatsapp or similar at this point. Much cheaper and better quality.
