Ask HN: What art would you like to express?

Im lowkey trying out everything, I'm not really good at anything but I'd say drawing, music production and book writing are all awesome. I always say 'Being decent in a lot of different things is way cooler than being the best at ...'

Drawing.

I used to. Back at university and at the pub. Graduated almost a decade ago and had the one drink too many a while back. The soul's too broken to draw for now. The skill's there, but the heart isn't.

Maybe I'll be able to draw again someday.

I understand you so well. I have a similar story with drawing. I don't think I'll ever be able to return to it, but I wish you luck

I got into it again. Get nice pens, a nice notebook. Carry it everywhere. Make time to sit down and draw. The muscle memory is probably still there so the skills return quickly.

It's a nice zen activity. It forces you to go to nice places, slow down and notice stuff.

I like music production, I have an older pc tho so I'm slumming with a fairly old lmms install with a bit of online daws for variety. I like audacity too but stick with older versions at the moment.

I'm interested in film making. Writing, directing. Mainly short films, often without dialog.

I’d love to try it too. I’m especially inspired by horror movies, so I’d probably give that genre a shot.

What’s the theme?

oh, it can be anything, in the same way a short story can be. A lot of times it has a music track which is central to it.

Any interesting links?

Not for my short films, but here's where I put some existing films I've cut and edited to music (and a few from others)

Set my body free.

right? I didn't do that one. But, wow.

No shit. Rather than ask my myself WTF I was paying attention to, I went with it. What a different perspective than the original content...

Edit: Hell of a track for the The Square too. Never heard Fever Ray before.
