A staggering amount of film and TV is shot in Canada.

Almost every time I see a Canadian character actor I guarantee the film or show was shot there. Shows like X-Files, BSG reboot, The Expanse.. all loaded with Canadian actors

Most of the Stargate series were filmed in Canada too. If you pay attention you'll realise the planets they visit all look like Canadian forest, or an old quarry filming location.

Even funnier is when actors and extras re-appear across series. Or the random extra has an unapologetically Canadian accent. Xfiles and SG1 are guilty of this.

BSG is like this too. It’s all just forest, SFU, UBC, downtown.

If you watch Jackie Chan's "Rumble in the Bronx" (shot in Vancouver) you can sometimes see the majestic Bronx Mountains in background shots.

Living in Vancouver ruins a lot of tv shows. Chicago? Nope, Vancouver. New York? Nope, Vancouver. SF? Nope, Vancouver!

On the flip side, they use a lot of local place names and things, so it’s like a little in-joke when you notice them.

Also Toronto / southern Ontario.

If you see a city scene and there's streetcar tracks, it was probably shot in Toronto. See opening shot of this scene in Reacher s02e04:

Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall is always funny to see. It was Vought HQ in The Boys and UN headquarters in The Expanse while the show runs were overlapping.
