Ask HN: What cloud agents do you use?

I want something like the agent sidepanel in VS Code/Cursor that runs in the cloud, not on my laptop. I want to choose the model, chat with it on my way into work or from the couch, and get a PR when it's done.

Cursor Cloud Agents works the best, but I think the rest of the Cursor product sucks. Claude Code Web seems abandoned, GitHub Copilot is buggy and regularly cannot see its own chat history, and products like Devin are so focused on token and model indirection that I don't trust the cost-per-task.

Someone has to have good cloud agents. What are you all using?

Lots of activity in this space right now, I'm the founder of Alloy (YC W23) and we recently pivoted into Cloud Agents (https://alloy.app/cloud-agents). My honest take is that Cursor is leading, but their video / desktop stream isn't really practical for frontend development. Us and the the other YC startups innovating in the space and trying to push this forward with running your frontend directly so it feels more like a local developer environment for frontend engineers.

im using my own cloud agent product which is also in the current YC batch. It resolves the issues you raised here.

We are purely focused on developer experience and started building this product because of all the issues you raised here. So I feel the pain deeply of what is currently on the market.

It is just a chat window, with the ability to spin up a preview and git diff of what you are working on. We are still working on a mobile app trying to get a PWA as a placeholder out to users. We have an iMessage, slack and whatsapp integration that can be used currently for working on the go.

We dont charge per task, you can port over an existing codex sub onto us.

check it out and if it fits your use case: https://hoplite.sh

if you want some agents that do jobs other than just coding, you might have a look at my product https://conol.ai

it is a cloud agent with a workspace which becomes its context and where its work lands
