There's also https://anonradio.net which is less about hacking and more just hackers with music to share. It's classic SDF-based fun.

I fucking love SDF. It’s like a shining beacon of the old school computing scene that’s still standing.

If you need an excuse, it’s great for a box to SSH into to ping or traceroute lynx etc to test networking from a third party.

Another excuse is it's a free webhost :)

Wouldn't it be cool if hackers talked to each other like truckers in their own language?

I’m syncing on that but my time slice is closing for this clock cycle.

It's about 30 years out of date, but there used to be the Jargon File - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jargon_File

Tech people kind of do, we just dont notice it until trying to describe things to others.

I had some YouTube video on aanf they were benchmarking something, my wife was like "what does any of that mean?"

I realised that, yeah that last sentence was basically just nothing but abbreviations and acronyms. I understood it perfectly but from the outside it is total nonsense.

This isn't just a tech thing, this goes for almost all specialtys.

I always say GNU Image Manipulation Program because...well, reasons.

I always say "Bring out the Gimp".

Buddy, I been trying to make a new Convoy happen for years. You got yer ears on?

Love HPR!

And adding another...(constantly playing in my casa)... Radio Paradise [0]

Mostly the Main Mix and Rock mix, and has been a great source of new music discovery for me.

I really hoped for a radio station with nice music.

I need to sign back into chat :)

At least after hackers hack the radio station to play some nice music. Wouldn’t that be a cool idea? The hackable radio station where you get your songs played if you manage to hack it.

> Want to know more about the hacker dropins [1] we play between songs? Here's a list of the DEF CON speaker drop-ins we play.

SomaFM is an utter institution. It predates SF being overrun with techbro culture--the hackers were mostly in the valley, the city was an even slice of misfits and outcasts (and hackers among the mix, not dominating it), and the bros were mostly still going into finance.

Good reminder to send Rusty Hodge my annual $20

Yeah soma.fm is very good. I hear it for like 20 years now on off.

Thanks!

Got it to play uninterrupted with mobile locked, such a great feeling after years of wrestling with YouTube working tirelessly to prevent the same mobile experience (Android, Firefox).

Anyone remember the predecessor, Today With A Techie (Twatech Radio): https://twatech.org

Woah I forgot all about this, I used to listen in like 2006-2009 when I was into podcasts. That's awesome they're still doing it!

What do you consume in your post-podcast era?

mostly youtube videos of shows that are also podcasts.

I used to listen the hacker public radio maybe 10 years ago, what a great rediscovery for me! So many unlistened episodes.

They have expired certificate :(

Says Not Before: Thu, 09 Jul 2026 01:02:21 GMT ; Not After: Wed, 07 Oct 2026 01:02:20 GMT for me. Works fine, too.

Oh, so what could be a problem?

I have automatic time update set up on mobile so this shouldn’t be an issue…

Did you by chance set up a MitM proxy to debug something on your phone and forgot to disable it? Here is the fingerprint I see:

Thanks. I am not aware of anything.

Instead of default Safari, I have tried Firefox and the page displays the same message about validity of ssl_certificate.

But site was down btw, nginx bad gateway - HN kiss of death, I assume…
