If the admins delete my post, you can still find it here as a PDF: https://archive.org/details/noyb-has-contacted-me-google-sho... And here is the fully archived version: https://archive.ph/exXWT And also here: https://web.archive.org/web/20260728125115/https://discuss.a...

It would be helpful if there was a backstory or some sort of explanation as to what the hell is going on.

The clash between data protection and corporate interests. Who will win the battle?

So that JSON file is pretty big - the video shows 4KB and that's just for the demo chat.

This is a lot for a pointer. Are you sure that your chats are not in that JSON file? You keep saying that JSON is a pointer to server - but how do you know that?

Because claude code stores state in JSONL file locally. It would make sense that Google AI does the similar thing.

Quote from my post:

https://discuss.ai.google.dev/t/google-illegally-retains-cus...

Google wants you to believe that the prompt HAS BEEN DELETED from the server. When you empty the trash in Drive, the AI Studio interface states that “there is no such prompt”. This text clearly MEANS it was deleted from the server. But in reality, it was NOT deleted from the server, because after the Drive file recovery the prompt loads the exact same way with the same link. The current delete button, which they renamed to cover up their fraud, says: “Move prompt to trash Are you sure? Your prompt will be permanently deleted after 30 days.”. The prompt goes to the trash, which will be permanently deleted after 30 days. That is what it says, right. But this is a lie, because it is not the prompt that goes to the trash, but the pointer, the json. The prompt is never deleted from the Google servers. Google wanted you to believe that it was deleted from the server, while they DO NOT delete it. Renaming the button only served this purpose. This forum post from 2025 is also evidence against them, where a Google developer also confirmed that the prompt comes back with its own url, and several users described the same thing: https://discuss.ai.google.dev/t/deleted-chats-remain-accessi.... This is the archive of that post on archive ph: https://archive.ph/Kuhcm

Google’s own developer (Lalit_Kumar, 2025) wrote that the chat is actually not the JSON file in Drive, but only metadata. Due to the loss of the metadata, AI Studio “does not recognize” the chat — but this is not a deletion. This proves that the “there is no such prompt” UI text is a lie, because the prompt actually continues to live on Google’s server. This can be found here: https://discuss.ai.google.dev/t/saved-prompt-history-extensi... And its archive.ph save is here: https://archive.ph/ghAaS

Google cannot deny my evidence, see you in court!

No, that post says the file is "marked with special metadata" - it does not say that is is only metadata.

So my theory is that Google Drive file = full chat log + metadata. The only server where the chat log is stored is Google Drive one. Deleting Google Drive file deletes the chat log. Recovering Google Drive file recovers the chat log. Not recovering Google Drive file means it's eventually purged. The link thing means that chat can be accessed even when it's in the trash can.

Have you went to Google Drive and checked the sizes of those files? If they are the links, they should all be the same. If they are raw data, they should be smaller for older files and bigger for newer files. Please check and report.

Also, download the file and open it in editor. Does it has your messages, or does it only has a pointer?

Google’s own engineer stated that the file stored in Drive is not the actual chat, but only a JSON pointer that is linked to the server-side conversation through special metadata. When you download and re-upload it, the metadata is lost, so AI Studio cannot recognize it anymore. This proves that the conversation is not inside the JSON file but remains on Google’s servers even if you delete it from Drive or empty the trash. The Studio interface lies when it says “there is no such prompt,” because the prompt continues to exist on the server. This is not my claim — it is written by Google’s engineer.
