Love my Model Y. Looks boring, tons of stuff can be packed and still comparable acceleration to not that old BMW M3. And no smell and no noise. Fantastic car.

Too bad the handling is shit. It's too heavy. This is why I kept my motorcycle for when I want to have fun on the road.

Yeah, I'm waiting to sell it for an EV minivan to come out. The Mercedes VLE looks interesting. I was hopeful for the VW Bus, but it's just underwhelming.

the VLE looks great but the pricepoint basically limits it to livery use in cosmopolitan cities. I'm thinking they'll probably sell 1000s of units over the whole run in north america

IDK, it looks pretty comparable at the bottom end to the Buzz. New vehicles in general are so expensive now. I remember buying my first car in the 2000s for $1K (used, granted) and I couldn't imagine buying something that actually drives for that price anymore.

What's wrong with the VW bus?

Too expensive for a worse vehicle than the Model Y (with incentives, it was a >$20K difference). I take 1-2 trips for 12 hours a year and the Buzz gets >100mi less range, so that's also a consideration. If it wasn't 50% heavier, it would probably get better range.

IIRC the first generation of it also didn't have the right plug to use the supercharger network, didn't have fast charging, or wasn't available >5 seats in the US, so we've kept waiting for future iterations to improve and it hasn't been good enough for the high price.

I absolutely can't stand the suspension on Teslas, some of the worst ride quality of any modern vehicle.

I think, Tesla experimented a lot with suspension. Early models had some bad design and bad quality things. I bought my car when model Y facelift news were leaking everywhere. Suspension and stock wheel alignment were well done. Interior quality is not that good though.

It feels odd that extremely few in Anglosphere is pointing that out. Tesla chassis design and handling tuning is apparently atrocious enough that many total amateur dads on car review sites have to mention it, in the Japanese sphere.

I hear it all the time in the US, and I'm not even around car enthusiasts that much. Idk, either way don't want a Tesla cause of the touch screen.

Performance is not the issue, electric cars are like driving a fridge, it doesn’t matter how fast it goes.

"Comparable acceleration" is basically irrelevant to me, that's a number, numbers don't matter, I want quality of experience not arbitrary quantities.

If you’re not a proper petrolhead you won’t get it and that’s fine, most people aren’t and a car is just a tool for them.
