The tech will be built into the critically important layers of the chip design, cannot be merely blocked, work around-ed or removed from the mainboard.

During heightened tensions, or even war, the US side can deactivate or destroy the chips from afar. Inability to make a proper internet connection with US servers within a certain time frame will also trigger deactivation or destruction.

Obsolete by design bullshit. Chips that stop working one day when someone decides there's profit turning off the old DRM servers is madness.
