CNN poll: Half of Americans don't consider themselves Democrats or Republicans

There was a single-panel meme floating around some time ago, the image had a mother dragging along a screaming kid flat-on-the-floor of Walmart.

The caption said "I don't wanna vote -- I don't like any of these people!"

If the US would use a direct voting system, where any party gets a proportional number of seats depending on the number of votes, this two-party-system wouldn't have developed.

But now the system serves exactly these two parties, so they will not ever change it. And the citizens will only ever have the option between them. Except if some really really rich people found a new party and win over at least 25% of all people to vote for them on the first try.
