US Marine Corps retires the first fighter jet that didn't need a runway

The UK invented this in the 1960s. The USA licensed the design for first use in 1971.

No mention of use of the Harrier in the Falklands War…

Strangely I worked on plasma gun coatings on the fan blades for my pre-university engineering placement.

Old guy meets older guy. Unless this coating was added way after the original Harriers were created.

Not that either the Harrier or F-35B are particularly useful, when configured for vertical takeoff.
