Homeland Security is making "smart glasses" to collect intelligence on Americans

This is such a dumb idea.

How do you figure out if someone is an illegal alien from a distance with such a tiny sensor and resolution? The smart glasses I have seen so far can barely record a sharp image of my hand if I stretch out my orang-utan-esque arms. And they get hot in your face if you record for longer than thirty minutes at a time, sending a beep directly into your brain that they are overheating.

I hope they have enough government-employed facial reconstruction surgeons in Arizona. There will be a lot of ICE agents losing eyes and half their noses, if they are lucky.

You better not wear a sombrero and a large fake moustache as an American citizen if you don’t want to end up in an ice concentration camp.

If the AI says you look like an illegal alien, it must be right. Just like these schoolgirls in Iran were obviously military assets, ready to burn the American dream to the ground with their tasty Iranian Girl Scout cookies made from weapons grade brown sugar.

You can surveill the surveillers in the same fashion. There surely won’t be a network of citizen-run devices documenting their every move in return. Removing all privacy from the public space is surely making people trust their governments even more and stick to the rules.

Man, I wish there was a large underground system running under every city that even covers you from suicide or surveillance drones, you can use to travel unseen from point A to B and get out at thousands of points just covered by something that is easily lifted from below with a modified car jack even if you have an Alex Karp like biceps.

Luckily, nobody is going to use that because of those damn robot alligators down there.

You’re becoming a nonsense country America. Everyone is laughing.

Odd that they would choose the form factor represented in the article - I am going to assume this is just some picture filler picture.

It would seem one of the few occupations where it would not be off putting to have a bigger HMD, especially in the case that you’d probably want the device to have dual purpose. One being that of a dystopian tool, and the other of being protective face covering that you know… you kind of need when you commit your heinous atrocities.

Heck I figure they could go all the way to DaftPunk style masks and it would seem on brand.
