That picture of it being somewhere in the woods, so presumably somewhat off-grid seems cool until you realize an amateur thief with a crowbar could probably crack that open.

Edit: the off-grid comment is a bit silly but I mean presumably this thing would need to be placed somewhere with around the clock security

It also needs a megawatt so you better have your own turbine off in the woods with it.

It's an AI generated image so I wouldn't trust anything in it apart from the gemini icon

Confirmed: there is some kind of high voltage transformer in the background at right, sitting on the ground entirely in reach of toddlers. That is most definitely not a compliant high voltage installation!

But all you need is a "concrete slab" ! You could even "dry pour" it, since you're going to need a wetdown for the photos anyway.

Just have some autonomous killbot drones patrol the perimeter

Could we change the link to https://tinycorp.myshopify.com/products/exabox-preorder

I'm amazed one can just setup this kind of operation on Shopify, even more amazed that there can be consumers happy to go through with this as the payment front door with all the fees included.

> Bank Deposit

> After you complete your order, you will receive an order confirmation email with wire details. NOTE: UNPAID ORDERS WILL BE CANCELED AFTER 5 DAYS. You will receive another email when your payment has been received and an email when your order ships. Deliveries to residential addresses may require a phone call for scheduling.

Ah, that explains it, I forgot Shopify allows for manual payments without fees. Appreciate the reply!

When I started taking pre-orders for my failed Bitcoin hardware company in 2011, people were willing to wire $100K with almost no verification that our hardware existed (it did not), never mind whether it worked (it never did). We never accepted a single order, partly because I wasn’t willing to just YOLO it before I had equity investors who could take the risk instead of hapless consumers.

On reflection, I should have taken their money.

Curious that they listed the GPU as "RDNA5 AT0 XL". RDNA5 is not out yet, but that naming seems to align with the naming in this leak [1]. It's explicitly labelled as a "desktop/gaming" model with 154 CUs and 36GB of VRAM.

The specifications are listed here: https://tinygrad.org/

I am not too familiar with these people. "preorder" is like a kickstarter ? One of those LEAN exploratory things?

They have no product that they can demo but they expect payment in full?

Are they white-labeling this or do they plan to design it if there is interest and ship it "eventually" ?

This is geohot's newest thing. While he's definitely a cowboy, he has shipped hardware successfully at Comma.

He’s also been shipping the smaller petaflop tinyboxes with either nvidia or amd.

Lol what? Every preorder that's not a Google headset or apple power mat is suspect?
