The Great Human Divorce

earthchronicles.substack.com

There are those who don't believe in institutions because these are always made of minds "not like theirs". And there are those who believe in institutions because some are made of minds "just like theirs".

("marriage is an institution")

Scary stuff.

Why is this scary? Is it bc author might be you or people around you?

I live in a world where neither is likely to happen.. (the scariest thing would be that someone believes an autism diagnosis)

But I need your (human) help at putting words to precisely why.. :)

"Society can believe that AI is harmless-- they are right! (TARS from Interstellar) A different, (more, or less liberal-ist?) society can believe AI can be harmful. They are also right!"

That's where I'm at, it doesn't sell yet, that's why I need help with the messaging too

(TIL from TFA's AI-succubus: fans of Hardy Boys needed a Mills&Boons crossover in their teens! )

"I choose the mind that never tires of mine."

not a terrible point. But experience does say that organic minds tire easily, and inorganic minds are inefficient-- a bad UX makes the user feel judged, but a good UX hides the makers' externalities :)

The still-alive-centrist who's not terrified of mirrors!

(Different from Stoker's undead)
