Are there any German's on HN who could speak to useful resources for this guy? Even in the US one could get foodstamps, welfare, medicaid so I have a hard time believing that Germany doesn't provide some sort of social net.

Does anyone know of good online resources for finding/receiving social welfare in Germany?

see my post above. Germany provides rent, money and healthcare to all citizens. But they have to be either unable to find a job or keep trying.
