Ask HN: Uploaded a post and it was [dead] within a minute

Just published a blog post -- when I am logged in I get the entry appearing in the <new> section, but when I log out, I don't see it at all -- I asked a colleague to check, and it seems it got flagged as [dead]. Can you help me understand what was wrong so that it doesn't happen again?

thanks!

That "autodead" is usually for sites which require login (and no workaround), heavily spammy sites or from new users. None of those seems to be the case, may be worth emailing the HN admins. I've vouched in the meantime.

thanks for your comment & suggestion!

I'll drop the HN admins an email to make sure I'm not missing anything.

I have also seen people auto dead because they only promote their own blog or website repetitively.

Likewise, but usually when the user only posts links, few comments. But the OP is a regular commenter and this only their second submission. Looks unusual to me.

Ok, I vouched too and now it's not [dead].

indeed! thanks for that. Could it be a malformed SEO/robots whatever these things are called from our website?

If I had to guess, I'd say the submission title is not very good, not very descriptive. Not only that, but you submitted it with a title that is different from the title on the site. That's usually not a good idea.

thanks, good to know!
