It's sad the iMac is gone. This is so close and it's silly that it's not also a computer.

I really love the All-In-One form factor. Especially when the displays are super thin, which Apple was at least starting towards with the iMac line. I want it just to be a giant holdable tablet+++, like some of the weird Android stuff happening, like the 27" LG StanbyME. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/07/the-curious-rise-of-...

Is the iMac gone? I'm able to add an iMac with an M4 chip to my cart and Apple says it'll deliver tomorrow.

Oh,! Thank you. I guess I was thinking of the last iMac 27" only (2020-202.

The "i" naming always weirded me:

iPhone: Mobile

iPad: Mobile

iMac: Desktop

I always thought the MacBook should have been called the iMac and the iMac should have been called the Mac :) (like how it first was in 1984)

I think the iPhone and iPad names are just "relics" of the iPod name, and the iPod name had probably a lot to do with the iMac's popularity at the time.
