Price increase on .AI domains by NameCheap

Did something like this happen in the .com era too?

``` On March 5, 2026, the domains registry for .AI will initiate universal price increases. These changes will affect the 2-year minimum renewal, reactivation, registration, and transfer costs. Check new prices on all domains affected below:
Domain .ai Registration Original price $79.98 Registration New price $92.98 Renewal Original price $92.98 Renewal New price $114.98 Transfer Original price $89.98 Transfer New price $99.98 While prices are displayed per year, all .AI domain registrations and renewals are for a minimum 2-year period.
